Cecil Street Market (Penang 7th Road, 七条路), pack with various type of hawker stall selling Penang famous food such as Char Koay Teow, Koay Teow Th’ng, Jawa Mee, Laksa…etc.
Our main intention is to visit Fried Sago again, where you can’t find it anywhere else in Penang (our radar tells).
Fried Sago

Fried Sago RM1.50, when the Aunty saw I take her photo she asks me, you never eat before is it? HaHa! Aunty is so funny.
Fried Sago

Indeed this is the second time I try, the taste like Cha Koay Kak with a little bit of spicy. Sago given a lot of chewy bite and taste so delicious.

Loh Mai Chi, Peanut wrapped with Muah Chee and deep fried to golden colour.

We have no clue when we saw it, give it a try and taste so special where the Muah Chee is deep fried outside while remain the stickiness inside with the fragrance peanut

Char Koay Teow, there is so many stall selling Char Koay Teow and undecided which one to choose, end up we select this stall where the business run no stop.
Char Koay Teow

Assume it to be delicious since the business so good but it was quite disappointed, Char Koay Teow without much flavor and a lot pork lard used.
Char Koay Teow

See the amount of pork lard, this is leftover after I took a few.
Char Koay Teow

Jawa Mee, taste just normal which not enough sourness and the chili is so spicy.
Jawa Mee

Rating given to the Fried Sago which is our main intention to share with our reader, the rest of the item seems to be normal.
Next visit going to try the Pasembur and Hokkien Mee.

  1. aiya~ cecil street i can say the MOST familiar place..haha..my parents shop just located opposite the market. everyday i buy afternoon tea from there. char koay teow should go to the extreme behind, there is one using charcoal to fry, taste nice/not bad but i think almost the same standard like other nice charkoay teow stall in penang. pesembur, Ah Lai Koay toew thng is MUST TRY. Laksa (the one spectacled uncle) is nice. Ice kacang is nice too (on par with other famous ice kacang but price is cheaper). if you come in the morning, i recommend lum mee and hokkien mee. this week i m going back. lets go there and eat and chat. haha 🙂

  2. Ya, I find the rest pretty so-so nia.

  3. There is one stall in front of the Lebuh Presgrave hokkien mee that sells fried sago too. But I did not try it that time. This one on Lebuh Cecil's good, for very very hard to find something as traditional as this.
